The Skeen Family

It’s with an incredibly heavy heart that I write this. As you all know, last night, 4/27, an absolutely devastating tornado wreaked havoc in Holdenville. As a result of this tragedy, my good friends family, the Skeens, suffered a heartbreaking loss. Agustin’s sister and brother-in-law lived in the path of destruction and the storm tragically took the life of their only 4 month old child. On top of losing a child, they lost their house (which was picked up and thrown 200 yards with them in it), two vehicles, and everything they owned. Words can’t express the immense loss this family has suffered. If you can find it in your heart to help this family as they mourn their child and try to rebuild, whether it’s financial or with prayer, it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

On Saturday, April 27, 2024, a devastating tornado ripped through Sulphur, OK.

Sadly, the factory, warehouse and office buildings of Genuine Billy Cook Saddles were completely destroyed by the storm. Amongst the rubble lay decades of historic business assets, materials, equipment, and inventory.

Genuine Billy Cook will have lots of expenses as they rebuild their facilities and prepare to get back in the saddle. In the meantime the priority is supporting their artisans and employees while the business rebuilds.

On Saturday April 27 at least one of our colleagues, Dr Evan Bragg of Sulphur, Oklahoma suffered the devastating loss of his practice after a tornado hit leaving much of the city of Sulfur, Oklahoma unrecognizable. Over the years, the ODs on facebook community has come together to support our colleagues in times of need; after all, what is the point of the community if we aren't doing good things for our colleagues and the profession. Let's do what we can to help Dr Bragg recover and rebuild. This fund will be used to cover non-insurance covered expenses Dr Bragg and his family incur as a result of this tragedy. If there are other ODs who have loss as a result of tornadoes across the country we will include them as well and equally divide the funds. Please consider a donation no matter how small. With 48,000 members we can really make a difference for Dr Bragg and other colleagues impacted by this - 100% of all funds raised will go directly to those affected
